As the Monsoon Session of Parliament enters a crucial phase, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called on all Members of Parliament from its National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners to assemble at the Makar Dwar of Parliament at 10:00 AM on Monday. The move is seen as a strategic show of strength ahead of a high-stakes debate on Operation Sindoor.

The Lok Sabha is scheduled to hold a special 16-hour discussion on Operation Sindoor—India’s military response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 civilian lives. In retaliation, India launched precision strikes targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).

The discussion is expected to be heated, with the Opposition pressing the government for answers not only on the attack but also on U.S. President Donald Trump’s repeated claims of brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. They have also demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s direct response during the debate.

The Parliament has seen frequent adjournments since the Monsoon Session began on July 21, largely due to Opposition uproar over the Pahalgam attack, the controversial Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Bihar, and the recent resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju confirmed that the Lok Sabha will debate Operation Sindoor for 16 hours on July 28, followed by a similar 16-hour session in the Rajya Sabha on July 29. “We’ve made it clear to the Opposition that Operation Sindoor will be taken up first. Other issues will be considered afterward,” he said.

Meanwhile, floor leaders of the Opposition’s INDIA bloc are scheduled to meet at 10 AM to formulate their strategy for the second week of the session. Both sides are expected to lock horns during the debate, which could set the tone for the remainder of the Monsoon Session.
